Tim joined the Sanger Institute in 2018 as a senior software developer in the Pathogen Informatics Team.  He predominantly works in support of GeneDB and fungal genomics research.

Tim has a background in biological research.  He gained a DPhil through work on self organisation in ant behaviour, and then went on to work on projects at the Centre for Mathematical Biology (University of Bath), the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Durham, and the Clinical Trial Service Unit (University of Oxford)

Before joining the Sanger Institute, Tim worked at Edina, the JISC Data Centre at the University of Edinburgh; he worked as a senior software developer, technical lead and service operations manager on a wide variety of services providing JISC technical infrastructure, metadata processing, and user interfaces for discovery and delivery of teaching and research resources to staff and students.
