| Sanger (or Partner) Fellowships
(eligibility criteria may apply) |
Apply for a Sanger (or Partner) Fellowship: | Calls vary between those to work on specific projects and those where you can co-develop a project, tailored to you, with a member of Faculty.

| Direct Approach | Make a direct approach to a member of Faculty and suggest a project that combines each of your knowledge and expertise and drives progress towards Sanger’s vision. | Sanger’s funding sometimes offers our Faculty flexibility to develop ad-hoc Postdoc projects if approached by talented individuals with ideas that will further their research ambitions.
Such roles do not necessarily have to be advertised in an open call, but projects must satisfy Sanger’s vision. Candidates must still undergo formal interview. Our Faculty can be approached throughout existing collaborations, at conferences, or via email. |
| Bring your own 3rd party funding | Secure research funding (e.g. a Postdoc Fellowship) from a third party such as an industry partner or a public/charitable research funder. | Sanger welcomes Postdocs with third party funding provided:
· A Sanger Faculty host is pre-agreed before an application is submitted · The project comprises ‘Sanger Science’ and furthers its research vision Candidates applying for third party Fellowships to undertake Postdoc work at Sanger must work with the relevant Faculty member, local Research Managers and Grants Office to prepare their proposal. |
