Overview

My role as a Reporting Analyst specialised in developing and delivering end-to-end service and surveillance reports, ensuring the production of high-quality data products at scale within designated timelines.

I was accountable for overseeing the efficient operation of scheduled Genomic Surveillance Operational reports, leveraging data from diverse internal and external sources. I conducted analysis and validation of report outputs, collaborating closely with stakeholders to identify and address any issues or gaps within the report suite. Furthermore, I investigated and resolved day-to-day data issues to ensure smooth operations.

Throughout my working experience at Sanger, I have played a pivotal role in the GSU Surveillance Operations team, delivering critical work to monitor the performance of GSU surveillance operations across multiple projects. I was responsible for managing a suite of internal and external reports crucial for fulfilling GSU contractual obligations with external partners and for effectively monitoring the operations of the GSU surveillance programmes.

Professional Background

I joined the Wellcome Sanger Institute in April 2021 as a Research Assistant, transitioning from my role as Sample Preparation Scientist at the Cambridge COVID-19 Testing Unit, where I contributed to national COVID-19 sample processing efforts during the early stages of the pandemic. At Sanger, I became part of a highly automated, high-throughput team specialising in large-scale genome sequencing of SARS-CoV-2 samples for genomic surveillance.

Over time, I was promoted to Advanced Research Assistant in August 2021, where my responsibilities included executing both routine and bespoke processes to facilitate automated high-throughput DNA library preparation, quantification, and normalisation for downstream sequencing. My focus was on delivering quality data within designated time frames, while also contributing to the day-to-day operations of the expanding laboratory team to meet increasing throughput demands.

In August 2022, I transitioned into the role of Junior Reporting Analyst. Following a successful completion of the training period, I was promoted to Reporting Analyst in June 2023. In this role, I took ownership of the day-to-day management and continuous development of the operational reporting suite for the Genomic Surveillance Unit (GSU), ensuring that program members had timely access to key operational insights.

Academic Background

I completed my undergraduate in BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science at Anglia Ruskin University in 2020, where I was awarded the the Institute of Biomedical Science President’s Prize. I combined my working experience at Sanger with an online MSc Bioinformatics and Biostatistics at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.
