Advanced Research Assistant

Alumni

This person is a member of Sanger Institute Alumni.

Sandra is involved in the Plasmodium Genome Variation project which aims to describe the genetic diversity between malaria parasites from across the globe using high-throughput genome sequencing.

The primary objective of my role is to support this activity by working with the MalariaGEN Research Manager running the samples pipeline. This includes receiving Plasmodium and Anopheles DNA or filter paper samples, submission and tracking in sequencing pipelines, parasite culture, database management and communication with all project stakeholders. Moreover, I am also providing lab management, assistance with protocol development, troubleshooting as well as research support to Kwiatkowski’s group.
