Genomics of Symbiosis
During my position at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, at the Tree of Life Department, I plan to explore the available datasets produced from the Darwin Tree of Life and the Aquatic Symbiosis Genome (ASG) projects. The aim is to identify cobionts within the datasets, and re-assemble data when necessary, in order to be able to investigate the symbiotic interaction or co-existance of the cobiont with the target species (often host) that was sequenced. For the first months I will be working with 38 lichen datasets that have PacBio data and, in some cases, Hi-C, to try to dissentangle the genomic community of organisms.
