Dr Yoshihiro Ishida, MD, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow

My postdoctoral research focuses on the somatic evolution of the diverse cells within human skin. This work builds on my clinical background as a dermatology consultant, certified by the Japanese Dermatological Association. (Please note: I am not licensed for clinical practice in the UK.)

Background and Expertise

I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of California, Davis, before completing my medical degree at Hokkaido University in 2010. During my clinical practice as a dermatologist, I focused on treating patients with skin cancer. This experience ignited my passion for cancer genomics and using genomic techniques to understand skin biology, leading me to pursue a PhD at Kyoto University, which I completed in 2020. I subsequently served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology at Kyoto University before moving to the UK in 2023.
