Evolutionary biology of deep-sea invertebrates, particularly those living around hydrothermal vents and cold seeps.

I am using genomic data generated by the Tree of Life Programme to explore the cobionts of deep-sea invertebrates, and the evolution of their host. During my career to date, I have applied interdisciplinary approaches to explore biodiversity and evolution in the deep ocean, employing techniques that cut across life and earth sciences such as isotopic analysis, two- and three-dimensional imaging, and next-generation sequencing technologies to explore adaptation within hydrothermal vent and cold seep environments. I have wide-ranging research interests spanning evolutionary biology, biogeography, taxonomy and fossilisation.
