Management Operations

We provide support for the Wellcome Genome Campus, Wellcome Sanger Institute and Institute spin-out companies to enable our scientists to deliver their science at scale. To do this we plan for future needs, coordinate forecasts, provide risk analysis and management, oversee grant submissions and management, procure equipment, consumables and services, and ensure a good control environment.

Teams

To best deliver our services, we are gathered into a number of teams:

Financial Accounting

The team covers day-to-day financial and management accounting and reporting, accounts payable and accounts receivable

Financial Planning and Reporting

Our colleagues provide business partnering for budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis to support decision-making across the Sanger Institute. They also manage and support the financial systems underpinning our operations.

Grants Applications and Management

The group supports applications to funding bodies and manages research collaboration agreements

Procurement

The team delivers innovative solutions to the Institute’s needs by combinging strategic partnering (category management) with tactic purchasing and partnering with suppliers to. In this way, we secure our supply chains and leverage the Institute’s buying power.

Risk Management

We ensure the responsible delivery of the Sanger Institute’s science by building a culture that identifies, assesses and manages risk.

Stores

Our Stores team provides a professional service to the whole Wellcome Genome Campus. Their expertise include delivery processing, managing stock, logistical support (including portering on site) and courier services.

Supply Chain

The team improve co-ordination and visibility to spot and address issues throughout the internal and external supply/value chain. The main focus is on forward planning, tactical monitoring and building resilience.
