I work with the PaM Informatics within the Parasites and Microbes program. Together with the team, we explore best practices for developing bioinformatics pipelines and provide bioinformatics support to the teams across the program. My current work explores various methods for taxonomic profiling and genome recovery of viral metagenomics samples together with the scientists in the Respiratory Virus and Microbiome Initiative.
I joined Sanger immediately after completing my medical degree. I worked with the Malaria Parasite Surveillance Team as a data scientist, where I contributed to the development of tools for exploring genomic variation (Pf-HaploAtlas), and large-scale genomic data resources such as the Pf8 whole genome and West Africa amplicon sequencing datasets. I also co-authored a review paper highlighting the global spread patterns of the artemisinin partial resistance and the role of genomic surveillance.
