Leena Peltonen led the Genome-wide profiling of human diseases group, aiming to elucidate the complex genetic causes of common diseases. Sadly, Leena died on 11 March 2010.
Her research shed light on the complex genetic causes of common diseases, with particular focus on the genetics of cardiovascular and neuropsychiatric diseases. Leena and her team occupied a place at the centre of a number of large-scale European collaborations.
