The raw-bands file
The external bandcalling component traces along the lanes on the gel and calls bands at certain peaks in the trace according to a complex set of rules. These bands forms the basis for contig assembly and othr analysis tasks. They are considered "raw" as their coordinates correspond directly to the gel-image. Their migration distances are not yet normalised and this raw data cannot be used to compare band coordinates across a number of gels.
File format
The raw band coordinates are stored in a file called "raw-bands" in the gel-directory.
