Ying has spent the past five years working as a Bioinformatician, most recently completing a Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge on the use of biological text mining to build up knowledge of small molecule bioactivity. Yumi has advanced skills in C/C++, Java, Perl, JavaScript, R, S, Ruby, Groovy and Python programming, management of large data sets, and extensive use of shell scripting on Unix/Linux workstations and server farms. Prior to beginning her PhD, Yumi worked in the Next Generation Sequencing group at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, developing new software components for the high throughput DNA sequencing pipeline. Ying is now working in the Soranzo group contributing bioinformatics expertise into the Blueprint project, as well as supporting various other projects within the group and externally, such as the Bloodpharma project.
