Mamanova, Lira

Lira is a Staff Scientist within the DNA Pipelines Research and Development team. During her time at Sanger Institute her research activities have been focused on developing and optimising novel applications and protocols for DNA and RNA-Seq on the latest generation sequencing platforms.

I have highlighted a few major research projects that I worked on during my time at Sanger.

  • My current and ongoing project is “Rare-Variants detection”. I am developing and optimising an approach that allows the confident detection of ultralow-frequency mutations.
  • I coordinated and carried out a series of RNA-Seq pilot studies and validation of protocols/commercial kits for use in high throughput RNA-Seq.
  • I was actively involved in the development and implementation of the “Targeted Enrichment” technologies on the Illumina sequencing platform.
  • I developed a strand-specific, amplification-free RNA-Seq library preparation approach for use on the Illumina sequencing platform in which the reverse transcription reaction takes place on the flowcell surface.
