Athanasiadis, Emmanouil

Emmanouil received his BSc in Biomedical Engineering from the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens in 2004. He received his MSc and PhD in Medical Physics in 2006 and 2010, respectively, from the University of Patras, both funded by the National State Scholarship Foundation of Greece. From 2008 to 2010, he was also awarded with “K. Karatheodoris” scholariship and worked as early stage researcher in Self-organized societies of connectionist intelligent agents capable of learning (SOCIAL), Pythagoras II and Archimedes I research programs. He has participated in a “Marie Curie 3D anatomical functional models for the human musculoskeletal system” proposal as Associate Researcher in Medical Imaging at University Colleague London (UCL) from June to October 2010. From August 2011 to March 2015, as Associate Researcher in Bioinformatics at Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens (BRFAA), he carried out research on a FP7 “cooperation” project entitled “PIK3CA Oncogenic Mutations in Breast and Colon Cancers: Development of Targeted Anticancer Drugs and Diagnostics”. From March 2015 to December 2015, he worked as Associate Researcher in Bioinformatics on a FP7 “cooperation” project entitled (NOISEPLUS) “Mechanisms of induction of pluripotent cells: From transcriptional noise to therapies with the use of stem cells” at BRFAA. From 2010 to 2015 he also worked as Adjunct laboratory instructor (lecturer level) at the Department of Biomedical Technology Engineering, Technological Educational Institute of Athens and Lecturer at the Postgraduate Program «Advanced Systems and Methods in Biomedical Engineering», 2014 - 2016. Since January 2016 is working as Associate Researcher in Bioinformatics at Department of Haematology of University of Cambridge, also affiliated with the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and the Medical Research Council (MRC) Stem Cell Institute, working on single cell RNA sequencing.
