To support our science, we have a sizeable Management Operations function which provides professional services to the Institute and its scientific teams. Supporting both operational requirements and longer term strategic initiatives, Management Operations plays a key role in partnering the scientific activities of the Institute and broader Wellcome Genome Campus. We are always looking for individuals at all stages of their career, who can bring fresh ideas and best practice to our organisation.

Campus Management Roles

Roles within our Technology Transfer, Health and Safety, Lab Facilities and Capital Projects teams play a major role in supporting the exciting expansion of the Wellcome Genome Campus. Operating across the various organisations situated on the Campus, individuals in these teams provide key advice and infrastructure support across their area of specialism.

Public Engagement Roles

The Genome Campus Connecting Science teams support the Campus in its goal to be the European hub of genomic knowledge.

Responsible for facilitating education and information on genomics and its role in society both now and in the future, roles within the team cover a wide variety of activities include hosting visits by schools and prestigious visitors, teaching children and adults about genomics, facilitating debate with important opinion formers and providing important interactive online resources through the ‘Your Genome‘ website.

Support Function Roles

Roles within our support functions span across a number of specialist functions including Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Procurement, Media/PR and Library Services. Encompassing opportunities to be a specialist in a particular function or more general management, these roles provide key advice and support in partnering the science and developing the policies, procedures and processes used in the Institute utilising best practice. Individuals within these functions often hold, or are working, towards qualifications from recognised professional bodies such as the CIPD, CIPR and ACCA.

Information Technology Roles

The Sanger Institute is one of the world’s leading producer of genomic data and, as such, has a high calibre IT department offering a wide variety of exciting roles. These include applications support, helpdesk, infrastructure management and storage, core web services, database services, business systems and high performance computing. The IT team provide expert advice to its wide variety of customers, both scientific and non-scientific, and operate at the cutting edge of technologies and their development.
