The Sanger Institute fungal sequencing effort is concentrated on pathogens and model organisms. Below is a list of projects funded, underway or completed; all data from these projects are immediately and freely available.
Data are accessible in a number of ways; for each organism there is a BLAST server, allowing you to search the sequences with your own query. Sequences can also be down-loaded directly by FTP. In addition, for those organisms being sequenced using a cosmid approach, finished and annotated cosmids are submitted to EMBL and other public databases (these continue to be accessible by BLAST and FTP from here). The Pombe pages also contain added information such as functional classification of proteins. Enquiries about sequencing or analysis should be directed to the head of the Pathogen group, Julian Parkhill.
