Once you've identified a gene in EnsEMBL or Vega, you can retrieve all further information by simply clicking it. This will take you to the GeneView page that lists the gene description, the structure of the transcripts and the genomic neighbourhood, the protein feature annotation and the corresponding sequences and - for EnsEMBL only - other members of the same protein family within the same organism ('Protein Matches') and orthologuous genes in other EnsEMBL organisms ('Homology Matches').
Corresponding entries in other databases, e.g. ZFIN can be found under 'Similarity Matches'. 'GeneView' also provides links to the 'Protein', 'Transcript' and 'Exon' pages where you can find additional information, for example the protein properties, supporting features or the sequence of the whole transcripts, translations, single exons or exon/intron boundaries.
An example for a Vega 'GeneView' overview is pasted below. More details are provided under 'Transcript information', 'Exon Information' and 'Protein information'.
