The C. elegans Protein Database: Wormpep

Wormpep contains the predicted proteins from the Caenorhabditis elegans genome sequencing project, which is carried out jointly by the Sanger Institute in Cambridge, UK and the Genome Sequencing Center in St. Louis, USA.

The current Wormpep database, wormpep226 (released 03 06 2011), contains 11,044,670 residues in 25,171 protein sequences (of which 3178 have splice variants) - wormpep226 is based on the current WS226 release of the C. elegans AceDB database.

Search Wormpep

You can search the database for protein entries, or for their corresponding "cDNA" (not containing any UTR's). Look for a protein using one of the following query strings: the CDS identifier of the sequence (e.g. ZK1058.3); the Wormpep accession number (e.g. CE01103); a locus name (e.g. soc-2). More comprehensive searches can be done using the tools found at WormBase.
