18,452 sequences; 7,839,834 total letters
Sequences were searched with a single protein from a given gene family, and BLAST hits with scores <10-4
were examined further. The locus used for searching is shown together with accession information (for
example, the rat dihydropyridine-sensitive calcium channel alpha-1 subunit was used for the first search).
Underneath are shown the best matches in the C. elegans genome. Duplicates (e.g. alternative splice forms)
were discarded. Within gene superfamilies such as the potassium channels or the protein kinases, there were
many strong homologies but an attempt was made to identify the members of different subfamilies.
Sequences were not analyzed for key residues or aligned using parsimony programs; as a result, this list has
probably missed many proteins and incorrectly included many proteins and should be considered a first pass
analysis.
