The Sanger Institute has sequenced the 137 kb insecticidal toxin bearing plasmid (pBtoxis) of Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis, in collaboration with Dr. Colin Berry of the School of Biosciences, Cardiff University and with Dr Arieh Zaritsky of the Department of Life Sciences, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel.
The sequence and analysis has now been published (Berry et al., Appl Environ Microbiol 68, 5082-5095 (2002)), and has been submitted to the public databases with the accession number AL731825
The DNA sequence is available for searching through our BLAST server, and the sequence and annotation are available in Artemis format from our FTP site.
This project is funded by Beowulf Genomics
