Babesia bovis is a tick-borne protozoan parasite that infects cattle in tropical and sub tropical regions, which can cause huge losses to livestock. Research into this disease is vital due to the great economic importance of cattle in developing countries where this parasite is prevalent.
Ten thousand reads from a cDNA library from Babesia bovis are being generated with the aim to identify genes expressed during infection. The project is carried out as part of a research programme at the Department of Infectious Diseases and Immunology of Utrecht University and is supported by the Netherlands Foundation for the advancement of Tropical Research and the Dutch National Organisation for Scientific Research

Access to preliminary unfinished sequence is provided. See our data release policy for more details. At present the sequence has not yet been assembled into contigs and the data consists of single readings only.
Searching the Babesia bovis sequence data online
So far 12565 B. bovis cDNA clones have been sequenced. A BLAST server now exists to allow easy searching of the Babesia bovis sequence.
