Susan is a project and programme manager working across a range of Campus wide activities.
The role of Campus Project Manager was created to support the development and delivery of the long-term vision for the Wellcome Genome Campus – namely to build on its scientific foundations such that the Campus, with its constituent organisations, becomes an international centre for scientific, business, cultural and educational activities emanating from genomes and indeed biodata more widely.
What does that mean in practice?
Well I’ve been at the Campus since January 2015, and the majority of my focus in that time has been on the Campus element of the quinquennial review (QQR) 2016-2021. This has involved working with colleagues across the Sanger Institute; Courses, Conferences and Public Engagement; EMBL-EBI and other partners to collectively develop a bold and inspiring vision for the future of the Campus. In August 2015 we hosted a panel visit of experts to Campus (led by Bruce Stillman, CEO of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory) to discuss our ideas and to learn from the collective experience of the panel.
