Dr Sunil Kumar Dogga | Postdoctoral Fellow

Dogga, Sunil

As a Postdoctoral fellow in the Lawniczak group, I aim to use scRNA-seq methodologies to dissect the infectious reservoir for malaria in natural settings.

I am interested in understanding Plasmodium falciparum transmission dynamics using single-cell technologies. In this direction, I will evaluate the reservoir of natural infections in a malaria-endemic site in Mali. My project aims to explore within-host and between-host diversity of sexual and asexual populations between symptomatic and asymptomatic carriers.

Prior to joining the Wellcome Sanger Institute, I did my PhD in the laboratory of Prof. Dominique Soldati-Favre at the University of Geneva. I worked on the Apicomplexan relative, Toxoplasma gondii, studying several aspects of the parasite's cell biology, focussing on the role of two major post-translational modifications, palmitoylation and proteolytic processing.
