On campus
The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute is located on the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus in the grounds of Hinxton Hall, nestled in quiet countryside in landscaped gardens adjacent to a wetland reserve. In addition to its peaceful location the campus offers excellent laboratory facilities, a state of the art data centre and a first class research support facility all designed to facilitate the work of our scientific community.
Campus workers have access to a range of facilities, including a nursery, gym, two cafes and a restaurant. The Wellcome Trust Genome Campus has a Good Environmental Practice policy in addition green travel initiatives are actively encouraged including a cycle to work scheme, car sharing and free campus buses from various locations around Cambridge.
Equally important to campus life is the range of social activities offered by the Sports and Social Club whether it is a Burns' Night Supper, the Mid-Summer Ball or a quiz night there are opportunities to meet with people working across the organization.
Learning, development and networking are other important aspects of life on campus. There are a range of scientific seminars with our own and invited speakers, scientific group meetings, skills development workshops and of course we share the Campus with the European Bioinformatics Institute with whom we have a number of collaborations.
All workers have access to a (SISA) representative. SISA is the body that represents staff views and has members on the Sanger Institute Information and Consultation Committee (SIICC).
