Overview

'Informatics at the Sanger Institute aims to support our internal science programmes, maximise the impact and utility of the human and other genomes in research, and deliver outstanding biological science using computers.'


Bioinformatics at the Sanger Institute is carried out in the Informatics Division headed by Tim Hubbard. There are over 130 people doing computational work both in Informatics as well as within the other divisions. They carry out primary bioinformatics research, keep the website and database resources running as well as supporting IT for the large scale sequencing, other faculty projects and our large computing facilities.
