Campus Leadership and Governance

The Wellcome Genome Campus is operated by Genome Research Limited (GRL), a registered Charity and wholly owned subsidary of the Wellcome Trust.

The Chief Executive Officer of Wellcome Genome Campus is Professor Sir Mike Stratton, who has devolved responsibility from Genome Research Limited to operate the Campus.

The Chief Operating Officer of Wellcome Genome Campus is Martin Dougherty, responsible for the overall management and operation of the Campus.

Campus Development Board

The Campus Development Board, which reports to the GRL Executive Board, has oversight of the Campus operation, significant capital projects and Campus development. The Board is Chaired by the Chief Operating Officer, Martin Dougherty, and meets 4 times a year.

Genome Research Ltd

Genome Research Limited (GRL) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Wellcome Trust and is legally responsible for the management of the Campus site, as well as all the activities of the Sanger Institute. Genome Research Limited's Board of Directors delegates responsibility to the CEO of the Campus, Mike Stratton. He is accountable to the Director of the Wellcome Trust. Operational management of the Campus is delegated to the Campus Development Board which is Chaired by the COO, Martin Dougherty.
