Pig Annotation Workshop

16-18 July 2008
Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute
Hinxton

Registration closed

Workshop

The Sanger Institute is organising an annotation workshop to bring together researchers from the pig community to participate in the manual annotation of the genome sequence. This event is sponsored by EADGENE and SABRE. The resulting annotation from the participants will eventually be displayed within the Ensembl browser. The workshop will focus on using Otterlace, an open-source genome annotation software package already in use for day-to-day annotation of the human, mouse and zebrafish genomes, to annotate regions of the pig genome. The sessions will be tutored by experienced staff from the Havana group, who are involved in the manual annotation of finished genomes at the Sanger Institute. During the three-day workshop we aim to teach the participants how to use the annotation software so they can begin to annotate their regions of interest. We also will provide support during and after the workshop to enable participants to work remotely to finish their annotation using experience gained at the workshop.
