Dictyostelium Microarray Resource Collaborations

NOTE: The funding terminates July 30th 2007, and we are thus unable to accept new project applications.

The Wellcome Trust has funded the Dictyostelium Microarray Resource Group to produce Dictyostelium microarrays for the research community. We are always interested in establishing new collaborations, and as an initial step, are asking all potential collaborators, independent of the depth of collaboration, to submit a project proposal in the box below. Please ensure that sufficient experimental detail is given.

The proposal should comprise two parts:
  1. a single experiment that would act as a pilot (and thus could be undertaken relatively easily/quickly)

  2. the remainder of the project, that could extend the data obtained from the pilot experiment

How to fill in the form:

Step 1
Please read the guidance notes and "small print"; this page tells you how we would want to do the microarray experiments; submission of a project proposal is taken to mean that you have read the guidance notes, and agree to the "small print".

Step 2
Have a look at the form below.

Step 3
Please contact us to discuss things informally. As you will notice in the form below, some of the questions you will have to have answers ready for are:
  • scientific rationale for the project (even if it is primarily a fishing expedition, we should like to know what it is hoped to find out)
  • resources available to you to utilise the profile data
  • what impact the data may have on the wider Dictyostelium community
  • what you think you need in terms of resources (slides, hybridisations, etc.); these figures can be calculated from the guidance notes
  • when you envisage being ready to do the pilot experiment
  • whether you would like the Pathogen Array group to undertake the hybridisations etc with/for you
Obviously, once we are supplied with the above information, we will be in a better position to determine whether the Pathogen Array group have the resources available to meet your request (e.g. staffing levels, slides, labelling reagents).

Step 4
Fill in the form below.

Step 5
Receipt of your proposal will be acknowledged by email, and we will re-contact you if we would like to meet with you, obtain more information about your proposed project, or discuss costings where appropriate. Project proposals are reviewed on a regular basis by an advisory board comprising internal and external individuals, and we would aim to get a response back to you within 2-4 weeks, possibly sooner.

All applications must be submitted using the form below via the webpage. Ensure that all sections are completed. If there is an inappropriate field type "N/A" (not applicable) in the space.

How do you plan to use the data obtained from this proposed project?
Do you want Sanger to do the hybridisations (all/some/no)?
Do you want Sanger to do the data analyses (all/some/no)?
The data will be made publicly available once accepted for publication. Do you agree to this (yes/no)?
