What is MapSeq/pf?
MapSeq/pf is a database of genome variation in the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum in populations around the world, with data on 347 samples and growing. It allows you to browse the data for a geographical location or for a genomic region. You can take a high level view of population structure for a large group of samples, or you can zoom in to view the sequence data for an individual sample.
MapSeq/pf community
Malaria researchers around the world have contributed samples and data to the MapSeq/pf project. Many of the samples were obtained directly from the blood of individuals with malaria infection without culture adaptation. About the investigators and how you can participate >>
Next-generation sequencing
The genome variation data in MapSeq/pf have been produced at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute by next-generation sequencing. This generates very large numbers of sequence reads of Plasmodium DNA which are aligned to a reference genome to detect SNPs, indels and other forms of variation. More >>
The MapSeq software
This is a beta version of MapSeq, i.e. we are still developing it. This version has been optimized for Mozilla Firefox. Find out more and give us your feedback >>
